My heartiest greetings to John in honor of his achieving this milestone of a century on this planet! \u00a0John, you’ve been a constant source of inspiration to those of us who work with and on behalf of jazz musicians. \u00a0Your example of a lifetime of excellence serves as a beacon for so many of us. \u00a0 \u00a0You’ve consistently displayed a true generosity of spirit that is both peerless and timeless and this jazz life is a much better place for your having been a part of it throughout such a rich life. \u00a0It has been my pleasure to be in your presence on a few occasions and I’ve always come away feeling that I was in the presence of a real mentor in this business. \u00a0I’ll never forget witnessing the sincere love and adoration Nancy Wilson radiated for you from the stage at the Monterey Jazz Festival as part of a session a few years ago that you were unable to participate in. \u00a0GIven Nancy’s abundant love you were certainly “in the house” nonetheless.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Many thanks to you John and all you’ve meant to those of us who have come along in your wake. \u00a0Here’s wishing you a splendid 100th and as many more into the future as the Creator will allow.<\/p>\n
